Detroit isn't playing as well as it was a few weeks ago, losing series to Washington and Seattle and splitting a two-game set with Pittsburgh. The Tigers have played surprisingly well this season, but I don't believe there's as much of a talent gap between these teams as the standings suggest...

The Royals are 10-1 in Brady Singer's last 11 starts vs. a team with a losing record and 7-1 in his last 8 starts with the total set at 7.0-8.5. After a rough start to the season, he's rebounded nicely in consecutive outings vs. the White Sox (one earned run in six innings) and Padres (two runs in six innings). Furthermore, the 26-year-old right-hander is 6-0 with a 2.44 ERA and 57 strikeouts in ten career appearances vs. Detroit. He's won consecutive starts against the Tigers.
