Two of the hottest teams in baseball play in the National League West...and neither one of them is the Dodgers. The Padres have played themselves into a Wild Card spot by winning 19 of their last 26 and going 15-5 on the road since the break. They're sending Joe Musgrove, who has turned back the clock since his return from the IL and looks much like he did when he was an All-Star in 2022. In those three starts, he has given up just one run in 15.2 innings and has a stellar .57 WHIP.

Andre Pallante has three of his last four home starts and the Cardinals continue to slip further away from relevance and find themselves two games under .500.

The Padres are only three games behind the Dodgers for first place in the West and they are playing like a team that isn't satisfied with just a Wild Card spot.
