The Shockers have had quite a ride this season. They started the season with six straight victories, including nice wins against Minnesota and St Louis. Then they had bad losses against Georgetown and Kansas City, but picked up a solid win against K-State. They started C-USA play by going 1-7, but have found their groove lately, winning 8 of their last 11. Included in that stretch was a 5-point win over Memphis as 6.5-point dogs. They also beat the number in their earlier road game against the Tigers, losing by just eight. The Shockers are kind of a throwback, not taking many threes but working the high-low very well with two very capable big men in Washington, who shoots 43.9% from the field, and Ballard, who leads the nation in FG %, knocking down 75.6% of his shots. Memphis has won 13 of their L15 but have only covered the number in six of them. I think they’re overvalued again today.
