Stephen Nover Friday Free Play
(MLB) Arizona vs. LA Dodgers,
Money Line: 138.00 Arizona (Away)
Result: Loss
The Dodgers are laying a mid-size price here despite being without Yasiel Puig and Carl Crawford. The Dodgers also are starting converted reliever Carlos Frias.

I like Diamondbacks pitcher Rubby De La Rosa better than Frias. De La Rosa is off a sharp performance - one run on four hits, no walks with eight strikeouts in seven innings against the Pirates this past Saturday - and he should be highly motivated to beat the Dodgers.

This is De La Rosa's first start against LA since the Dodgers traded him to Boston in October of 2012. De La Rosa always showed promise with the Dodgers. Now that promise is starting to be fulfilled for the 26-year-old as he hits his prime baseball years. De La Rosa has 25 strikeouts in 25 innings.

Frias is untested as a major leaguer particularly in a starting role. This is just his third career big league start. His previous start was last Sept. 17 at Coors Field. Frias was pounded in that outing giving up eight runs and 10 hits in only two-thirds of an inning in a 16-2 loss to the Rockies.

Led by Paul Goldschmidt, the Diamondbacks rank 10th in the majors in runs scored and batting average. So they have the offense to take advantage.

(Editor's note: Stephen Nover loves the Friday card with his Underdog Game of the Week, Revenge Game of the Week and NBA Friday Dominator. The long-time pro is 29-13-1 (69 percent) on his last 43 NBA plays, including going 1-0 on Thursday with an easy winner on the underdog Clippers.)
