Result: Win
Cincinnati is a beaten down team, losers of six in a row. The Reds have a losing home record, have a pitching disadvantage in this matchup and could be down six starters.

The Reds have been using backups at catcher and shortstop since early in the season. Now they are down two outfielders with Billy Hamilton on the DL and Marlon Byrd traded. Cincinnati also could be minus second baseman Brandon Phillips, who didn't play in Thursday night's game after leaving Wednesday's loss to the Royals with inflammation in his right biceps tendon.

The Diamondbacks came back from Patrick Corbin's worst start of the season and a 4-0 deficit to beat the Reds, 5-4, Thursday night.

The pitching matchup today clearly favors Arizona with Rubby De La Rosa going against rookie David Holmberg, who is not one of Cincinnati's better pitching prospects.

De La Rosa is 4-0 with a 2.54 ERA in his last six starts. The Reds have never faced him, which is an edge for De La Rosa.

Holmberg wasn't impressive in Triple A this season with a 4.40 ERA and just a 61-to-38 strikeout-to-walk ratio. He's gone 19 2/3 innings in the majors and has a 5.95 ERA and 1.58 WHIP. The Dodgers blasted Holmberg this past Saturday scoring seven runs off him - including three homers - in just two plus innings.

The Diamondbacks have an outstanding blend of power and speed. They rank fourth in runs and second in steals. Arizona has four guys with 12 or more steals. The Reds' backup catchers do not throw well.

The Reds, by contrast, are 23rd in runs and have a horrible bullpen bridge to closer Aroldis Chapman.
