Ottawa has an under-the-radar hot goalie and catches Carolina in a bad spot. The Hurricanes just edged Winnipeg, 2-1, on Tuesday. Following this road contest, the Hurricanes fly right back home to host San Jose on Friday followed by another home game on Sunday versus Tampa Bay. In fact, this is the Hurricanes' lone road matchup in a seven-game span.

The Hurricanes will be missing All-Star defenseman Justin Faulk, out with a leg injury, and also could be minus goalie Cam Ward for a second straight game. Ward is questionable for the matchup.

The Senators received a much needed confidence-boost with a 2-1 shootout victory against Buffalo on Tuesday. This will be Ottawa's fifth game since trading for Toronto defenseman Dion Phaneuff.

The Senators are just a .500 team, but are 15-10-4 at home and their goalie, Craig Anderson, is playing well. Anderson has a 1.59 GAA and .952 save percentage during his last five starts. Anderson has been much better at home with a 2.17 GAA in 23 home starts compared to a 3.46 GAA in 23 road starts.
