The Sharks had to shake the cobwebs out in Game 1 this past Sunday after coming off a trip from California after finishing off Nashville. Still, the Sharks outplayed the Blues outshooting them, 32-23.
St. Louis, however, got away with some rough stuff that wasn't called and came away with a 2-1 victory. The refs missed some obvious penalty calls on the Blues, which shouldn't happen again.
The Sharks entered this series leading the remaining teams in power play goals. They also were killing penalties at an 82.4 percent success rate. These teams are very close. It wouldn't be surprising at all to see a seven-game series. I give San Jose an edge in special units. That could prove pivotal in this Game 2.
The Sharks had the best road record in the league during the regular season. They are 16-5 when scoring fewer than two goals during their previous game. St. Louis is just 4-4 at home during the playoffs.
This is San Jose's spot to win.
