San Jose certainly has the track record to bounce back after losing 3-2 in Game 1 of this Stanley Cup Finals. The Sharks are 5-1 in the playoffs following a loss, including beating the Blues, 6-3, in Game 4 of their Western Conference Finals after falling in Game 3. San Jose easily had the best road record during the regular season and is an impressive 8-1 the past nine times on the road against foes with a home winning percentage greater than .600.
The Sharks are aware that teams down 0-2 in the Stanley Cup Finals are 5-44 in winning the Cup. San Jose is 0-10 during playoff series when dropping the first two games.
Pittsburgh's speed caught San Jose by surprise in Game 1. The Penguins bolted to a 2-0 lead. It took the Sharks a period to adjust, but they outscored the Penguins 2-0 in the second period, outshooting them, 13-8.
Aside from Kris Letang, the Penguins don't have any star defensemen. I believe Pittsburgh's defense played above its heads in the first game. I expect the Sharks to get much better shots in this Game 2. They could get back speedy forward Matt Nieto, too. He's been out since Game 6 of the second round.
Bryan Rust has been the Penguins' hottest goal scorer. He's questionable, though, after taking a check to the head in Game 1.
