I'll take the Mariners as home 'dogs in a pitching matchup of rookie Astros starter Francis Martes versus lefty Ariel Miranda.

The Astros have the best record in baseball. They are usually not a team to go against. However, they are just 10-9 against southpaw starters.

Miranda loves to pitch at Safeco Field where his two-year career mark there is 7-1 with a 2.62 ERA. This includes 13 starts.

Seattle is 8-3 in Miranda's last 11 home starts. The Mariners also are 8-2 the past 10 times Miranda has gone against foes with a winning record.

Martes has made only two big league starts. He has a 5.02 ERA and wasn't the original starter for this game. Brad Peacock was supposed to go, but he was placed on the paternity list.

I like Seattle's offense a lot more now that shortstop Jean Surgura is back in the lineup.
