Oakland has banged out 10 or more hits in its last three games. The A's are 4-4 in their last eight games with their four defeats during this span coming by a combined five runs.
I'll back the A's at a plus price against Rafael Montero and a tired Mets bullpen.
Montero is 2-11 in his big league career, including 1-6 this season. He has a 5.40 ERA. Foes are batting .320 against Montero when he's been a starter.
The A's are going with Daniel Gossett, who pitched well in his last start giving up three runs in seven innings against the Rays this past Monday. Only once in his seven starts has Gossett walked more than one batter and that was when he walked two hitters.
This is far more of a play against Montero, though, than an endorsement of Gossett and an A's bullpen that has gotten much worse since dealing Ryan Madson and Sean Dolittle.
I just think the A's are due and in a matchup of two below average starters there's value in taking a plus price.
(Editor's note: Stephen Nover has his High Roller correlated baseball parlay - his strongest parlay - going today in addition to this free selection.
