Maybe it's because they're missing injured Bryce Harper and Didi Gregorius, but the Phillies are in a real scoring slump. Their recent overall numbers are deceiving because of a fluke 17-run game on the road against the Reds. If you discount that outlier, the Phillies are averaging two runs per game during their last seven games.

The pitching matchup is Joe Ross versus Spencer Howard. Ross has a 1.75 daytime ERA and this is an afternoon game. Ross is 2-0 career-wise against the Phillies with a 3.21 ERA in six appearances, including four starts. 

Howard has a 6.00 ERA during his last three starts spanning just nine innings. Howard yielded eight walks in these past nine innings. He's going to have to deal with a hot Juan Soto, who in four games this month has hit three homers, scored six runs and driven in seven runs.
