On the surface, this looks like an easy winner for host Dallas. The Wings are riding a season-high four-game win streak, while Los Angeles has lost seven in a row.
But on closer examination, this is a dangerous spot for the Wings. It's a trap situation.
Dallas is riding high after upsetting the powerful Liberty, 99-88, in New York this past Wednesday. Now the Wings return home to face the Sparks in an obvious letdown spot. Dallas also is in a look-ahead spot. The Wings host Connecticut on Tuesday in a bigger game. That's also a revenge game for the Wings, who lost last month to the Sun in Connecticut.
The Sparks aren't a bad team. They've had the most injuries in the league. They were 7-7 until injuries started mounting up and they went on their losing streak. Now, however, the Sparks have gotten much healthier. Back in their lineup is Lexie Brown and Layshia Clarendon joining Nneka Ogwumike and Jordin Canada. Those are all solid players.
Los Angeles also is better-coached this season under Curt Miller, who took Connecticut to the WNBA finals last year.
