When it comes to conference tournament time, I'm not big on revenge. If a team is good enough to beat an opponent twice during the regular season by double-digits, they are certainly worthy enough to defeat that team comfortably a third straight time.
That's the case in this Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament matchup between Duquesne and Dayton. The Flyers are 2-0 vs Duquesne this season beating the Dukes, by 10 and 16 points, respectively.
Dayton is ranked 24th in the country. The Flyers have a top-40 defense and are one of the best-shooting teams in the nation ranking 28th in field goal percentage and third in 3-point percentage. Duquesne ranks 259th in scoring and its defensive weakness is defending against shots from beyond the arc. So it's simple to see how Dayton has matchup edges that have been key in its earlier victories against this opponent.
DaRon Holmes II gives Dayton the best player on the court. Holmes, co-MVP of the conference, had a combined 59 points and 23 rebounds in the two regular-season games against the Dukes.
The Flyers have been pointing to the conference tournament ever since they blew an 11-point lead and lost to VCU in the conference final last season.
(Editor's note: Stephen Nover's Thursday card is headed by his Mountain West Conference Game of the Month. Stephen has won 83 percent of his Mountain West plays this season. Stephen also is 51-33 on his last 84 premium NBA plays and has one NBA play today looking to make it five straight NBA winners.)
