Minnesota is under-the-radar right now. Led by a healthy, underrated big man in Nikola Pekovic, the Timberwolves have covered their first three games. They beat the Pistons, lost to the Grizzlies by four on the road and fell to the Bulls by one. Both the Bulls and Grizzlies are better than the Nets.
Pekovic, who often was hurt last season, outplayed Andre Drummond in the win against the Pistons and also looked better than the Bulls' Joakim Noah, the defensive player of the year.
The Timberwolves have had three days off to prepare and get healthy, which should mean a return to the lineup of hot shooting Thaddeus Young.
The Nets are 2-1, but have played a weak schedule losing to the Celtics and beating the Pistons and way short-handed Thunder. The Nets had to deal with some distraction as their owner, Mikahil Prokhorov, got into a war of words with former Nets coach Jason Kidd.
The Nets could also get peeking toward their next game, which is Friday at home against their division and hated city rival the Knicks.
The Timberwolves have traditionally fared well versus the Nets covering 15 of the last 20 times.
(Editor's note: Noted NBA guru Stephen Nover has cashed 75 percent of his past 12 NBA paid/free plays going back to last season and has his guaranteed Wednesday Wipeout going today in addition to this free selection. Stephen won his last Wednesday Wipeout by 24 points with the Bulls last Wednesday.)
