As we can tell by the spread, the oddsmakers believe these teams are pretty evenly matched, but I think that the Bearcats bring more to the table and expect Cincinnati to pull away down the stretch for the comfortable ATS cover. While the Hokies have plenty of bowl experience, the team must surely be feeling "lucky" to even be in the Military Bowl today as they would not even become eligible until beating Virginia 24-20 in their final game of the year. To its credit though, Virginia Tech would beat then No. 8 Ohio State on September 6th and then No. 19 Duke on November 15th. Bottom line, I think the Hokies tough defensive unit will be in for a surprise today, the Bearcats would outscore their opponents by 20.4 points to close the regular season on a seven-game win streak, beating Houston 38-31 on December 6th to earn a three-way share of the AAC championship. Both teams are well coached, there is no advantage there. As mentioned off the top, the difference maker is CINCINNATI's powerful offensive unit in this one.
