This is an 8* BLOWOUT on Texas.
For a number of different reasons I think that Texas can keep this one a lot closer than what the oddsmakers are leading us to believe. Charlie Strong will be looking for a bowl win in his first year as head coach of the Longhorns. Texas was 3-5 entering November before a 34-13 win at Texas Tech became a spring board for three straight wins, making the Horns bowl eligible for a 16th time in the last 17 years. Texas and Strong have something to prove today in my opinion and I think that will translate into production and effort on the field of play. Conversely, Arkansas has to be feeling somewhat contented to even be in a bowl game after finishing 3-9 last year. The Razorbacks' 6-6 record made them bowl eligible for the first time in three years. Note that Arkansas would face eight AP Top 25 teams and lose six times. Arkansas ranked 26th in the FBS in rushing yards per game, but Texas finished 15th in the nation in allowing just 20.3 PPG. Texas has some playmakers on the offensive side of the ball and I think the injured Razorbacks secondary is primed for a torching. You may want to consider sprinkling a little on the money line, but either way, play on TEXAS.
