This is an 8* WILD CARD BLOCKBUSTER on the Baltimore Ravens.
I think the oddsmakers are pretty "bang on" with this line, I jumped on it right when it came out and got 3.5 and while it's since dropped, I still love this play and look for Baltimore to at the very least sneak in through the back door down the stretch with the handful of points it's been afforded in this AFC Wild Card game. These teams have a fierce rivalry having played in the postseason on three previous occasions, all three have been played in Pittsburgh and all three have resulted in a Steelers victory. To say the "revenge" factor comes into play here would be a bit of an understatement I think. The last time Baltimore visited Heinz Field, the Steelers would rout the Ravens 43-23 on November 2nd, allowing QB Ben Roethlisberger to throw for a career high-tying six TD's; suffice it to say, the Ravens will be hungry to atone for that debacle. Roethlisberger has been a force all year, but will now have to play without a key component to his success as Le'Veon Bell will be absent on Sunday, suffering a hyperextended knee in Pittsburgh's AFC North-clinching 27-17 win over the Bengals in Week 17. That's a huge blow to Pittsburgh's offense and one in which I think Vegas has not properly taken into consideration here, Bell leads the league with 841 yards after catch. And note, the Ravens defense is going to get healthier today with the return of tackle Haloti Ngata, who completed a four-game suspension for banned drugs. Ravens' QB Joe Flacco also enters the postseason with confidence and momentum, the Super Bowl winning pivot passed for 312 yards and two TD's in the win over the Browns last week; also note that Flacco would in fact finish the year with a career high in yardage (3,986) with ten fewer INT's than he threw in 2013: "Anything can happen once you get into the playoffs, but I don't necessarily want to approach it with us," Flacco assessed earlier in the week. "I'm not going to be surprised if, three weeks from now, we're sitting here and still playing." A tight battle is in the cards here, after taking all of the above factors into consideration it's my opinion that the RAVENS are indeed the sharp move in this one.
