This is a 10* GOALTENDERS BATTLE on the UNDER between the Dallas Stars and the Philadelphia Flyers.
Both of these teams have been playing to some pretty high-scoring affairs of late, but I feel that the conditions are finally right for a lower-scoring goaltenders battle tonight. Philadelphia is coming off a 3-2 OT loss to the Bruins on Saturday and a 5-2 setback at New Jersey a night later, it's playoff hopes once again starting to slip away. The Flyers sit seven points behind the Boston for the final wild-card spot. A brutal power play has been the main offensive culprit as Philadelphia is just 1 for 12 with the man advantage over its last five games. Dallas won't simply be rolling over today though, it's lost two straight in this series and eight of nine overall and which will also be out to atone for a 5-4 loss at Tampa Bay on Saturday. Note that Dallas has seen the total go UNDER the number in 12 of 22 this year in revenging a home loss vs. an opponent, while Philadelphia has seen the total dip below the posted number in 11 of 20 after allowing four goals or more in its previous contest. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends do all indeed point to the UNDER as the savvy move in this contest.
