This is a 10* American League GAME OF THE MONTH on the Seattle Mariners.
I think we're getting great value on Felix Hernandez and the home side here. After sweeping the Rays last week, the M's would drop three of four to Cleveland over the weekend, failing to score more than three runs in any contest. Sending "The King" to the mound is always a good way to break out of a slump though, Seattle has won nine of Hernandez's ten starts this year; he's 8-1 with a tiny 1.91 ERA overall and is averaging more than seven innings per start and would scatter four hits in Wednesday's 3-0 win over Tampa Bay. And that's bad news for the Yanks, as Hernandez is 3-0 with a 1.49 ERA in five starts in the series. The visitors counter with Michael Pineda (6-2, 3.36 ERA), who after posting a ridiculous 1.27 ERA in four starts from April 24th to May 10th, has been shelled for 12 runs over his last 11 1/3's innings. Pineda did bounce back in his last start vs. the Royals, but this will be the first time that he's faced his former team, always a difficult prospect for a pitcher. Pineda is getting way too much respect by the oddsmakers in my opinion, Hernandez is leading the league in many categories and all signs point to a lop-sided destruction, play on the MARINERS.
