This is an 8* NON-CONFERENCE SHOOT-OUT on the OVER between Army and Duke.
Setting the scene: Army won its first three games of the year, but comes in off an OT setback to Buffalo. Duke beat NC Central to open the season, then lost two straight to Wake and Northwestern, before then bouncing back with an upset victory over Notre Dame. But the Blue Devils weren't able to keep the momentum rolling in last week's loss to Virginia. We think these two capabable offenses are going to combine and do just enough to push this one above the posted number once the final whistle sounds.
The Black Knights: Army had plenty of chances to put away the Bulls, both in regulation and in OT, but it wasn't to be. The Black Knights will be out for a little redemption today, note that the offense averages 450 yards per game, including a whopping 374.3 on the ground. The defense ranks in the top 20 in the country in most defensive categories.
The Blue Devils: The school was unable to build off one of its biggest victories ever, but still enters this contest posting a respectable 445.6 YPG overall and 290.4 passing. The defense ranks outside the top 75.
The bottom line: Note that Army has seen the total go OVER the number in seven of its last eight against a team with a losing record, while Duke has seen the total eclipse the posted number in three of its last four after a loss against a conference rival. Army is out to avenge a 44-3 loss to the Blue Devils last season so we're expecting the visitors push the pace. All signs point to this one going OVER as the game comes down the stretch.
