This is a 9* "ART OF THE GAME" on the Atlanta Braves.
With what I feel to be the superior starter backing them tonight, I look for the visitors to find a way to get the job done at the end of this one. Atlanta sends Julio Teheran (8-5, 2.29 ERA) to the hill; Teheran will look to dominate the Mets for the second time in less than a week and to help his team avoid losing a third straight. Teheran is among the NL's best in both ERA and WHIP (0.95) and is 2-1 with a very respectable 1.86 ERA to go along with 30 K's over 29 innings spanning his last four starts. He's been even sharper of late, he's won his last two while allowing two earned runs and striking out 14 over 14 innings. Most recently Teheran beat New York 3-1 on Wednesday, giving up one run and four hits over seven innings to complete a three-game series sweep in Atlanta. Note that Teheran is 2-0 with a 1.44 ERA in four career starts against the Mets, which includes three visits to Queens. The Braves look to get untracked after back to back losses which was preceded by a nine-game win skein. New York took Game 1, 4-3 in 11-innings last night. The home side counters with rookie Jacob deGrom (1-5, 3.77 ERA) who gave up three runs in the first innning to the Braves last week; deGrom is 0-3 in each of his four starts at home, getting backed by a total of just five runs. I like the Braves to bounce back here and believe they clearly have the better hurler on the bump, I have no problem laying this price. Play on ATLANTA.
