Total: 9.50 | 100.00 Over
Result: Win
This is an 8* "TOTAL MONEY-MAKER" on the UNDER between the Texas Rangers and the Toronto Blue Jays.
While both Colby Lewis and Marcus Stroman struggled in their final start before the break, I believe the conditions are right for a lower-scoring game and look for these teams to combine for less than ten runs this afternoon. On July 5th Lewis (6-6, 6.54 ERA) would give up three runs off eight hits and no walks with seven K's over six frames in a quality start over the Mets, his second straight, before then getting shelled for 13 runs over 2 1/3's innings vs. the hard-hitting Angels on Thursday. It's not been a great year for Lewis obviously, but a date on the road is just what the doctor ordered as he's 5-1 with a 4.38 ERA away from friendly confines thus far. The home side counters with Stroman (4-2, 4.05 ERA) who can empathize with Lewis, as the Angels would pound him for five earned runs over just 3 2/3's innings on Wednesday. Stroman was lucky to escape with a no-decision, but for the most part he has been as solid as you could possibly expect this year; note that he's 3-1 with a respectable 3.89 ERA North of the border this season. As a situational handicapper, these are the types of matchups that I keep my eyes open for, both starters off horrible outings, each will be focused on the task at hand; combine that with the early start and the post-break adjustments, I feel that all signs do indeed point to a lower-scoring affair; play on the UNDER.
