The Nationals couldn't get the job done yesterday but I think they bounce back here. The Brewers will send Matt Garza (6-6, 3.69 ERA) to the mound; Garza is coming off a strong start where he gave up just two runs over 7 2/3's innings but took a hard luck loss. Garza has had his struggles against the Nationals in the past however, he's 0-2 with a 5.74 ERA in five starts lifetime. Washington counters with left-hander Gio Gonzalez (6-5, 3.56 ERA) who had his 22 innings scoreless streaked snapped in his last start. The southpaw gave up four runs (three earned) over 6 2/3's in a loss to the Orioles. I believe this is an excellent spot for Gonzalez to get back to his usual commanding form though as he is a strong 2-0 with a very respectable 1.89 ERA in three starts lifetime vs. the Brew Crew. Despite the win yesterday, the Brewers have still lost seven of nine coming into this game. Convsersely, the Nationals are a strong 28-20 on home field this season. These are both teams contending for playoff spots but I think the pitching edge along with the home field advantage is far and away enough reason to lay the extra juice on the home side.
