This is an 8* TOTAL ASSASSIN on the OVER between the Cleveland Indians and the Kansas City Royals.
Both the Royals and the Indians offenses have sputtered of late and despite a couple of fairly decent starters facing off in the opener of this three game set, I look for this total to eclipse the lower number as the game comes down the stretch. The scuffling visitors send Kory Kluber (10-6, 2.95 ERA) to the hill; Kluber has actually been a bright spot, he's won three straight and earned his tenth win of the year by beating the Tigers on Sunday, coming up one run short of his second complete-game of the season, ultimately giving up two runs on seven hits over 8 2/3's innings of work. I think its safe to say that Kluber has over-achieved to this point (at least in my opinion) and I think he'll have his hands full with this hungry Royals team which has played to five straight UNDERS and which comes into this contest with momentum after taking two of three from the White Sox. The home side sends Danny Duffy (5-10, 2.66 ERA) to the hill; Duffy's win/loss record is obviously not indicative of his overall play, he's been pretty good this year, a clear victim of repeated poor run support. Most recently Duffy suffered the loss to the Red Sox on Saturday, giving up two runs off six hits with three walks over 6 2/3's innings; he's just 1-5 in his last six starts. When it comes to "over/under" selections (in all sports), I primarily look at lop-sided trends to exploit and there's no question this one falls into that category, I'm expecting this total to sail OVER the posted number.
