This is a 10* GAME OF THE MONTH on the Detroit Tigers.

As primarily a situational handicapper, these are the types of contests that I always keep my eyes open for. For a number of different reasons I feel that Detroit offers supreme value in this situation. Both teams are coming off losing series, but this sets up as a classic "letdown" spot for the Jays after their important divisional series vs. the Orioles ended in a 2-1 loss to Baltimore yesterday. Detroit will be hungry to take out its frustrations after losing three of four to the Yankees, including yesterday's 1-0 early game. The Tigers will also be eager to atone for a three-game sweep at home by the Jays just last month. This is a fantastic spot for the visitors to take advantage of. And in my opinion, there's no question who has the advantage on the mound tonight. The home side sends RA Dickey (9-11, 4.03 ERA) to the hill; Dickey was shelled for five runs off nine hits over seven-plus innings in his team's 8-2 loss at Houston on Saturday. Unfortunatley for the veteran knuckle-baller, a date in front of the home town crowd is not what the doctor ordered, he's posted a horrible 6.63 ERA in his last three North of the border. The visitors counter with Anibal Sanchez (8-5, 3.37 ERA) who gave up two hits while striking out a season-high 12 and walking none over seven innings in his team's 4-0 win over Colorado on Sunday. Sanchez has for the most part been pretty solid this year and on June 3rd while facing the Jays he'd give up two hits while striking out five over seven scoreless frames in his team's 5-3 setback (note that Sanchez is a spectacular 2-0 with a tiny 1.31 ERA over his last three starts overall vs. the Jays). A plethora of favorable factors collide with an unbelievable line making DETROIT the sharp wager in this one.
