This is an 8* SITUATIONAL PITCHING MISMATCH on the St. Louis Cardinals.
After dropping a close one in the series opener and with what I feel is the clearly superior starter backing them on the mound tonight, I look for the hungry visitors to find a way to get the job done at the end of the game. The visitors send ace Adam Wainwright (14-6, 2.28 ERA) to the hill; Wainwright would earn a 5-2 decision on Thursday over Boston, giving up two runs off seven scattered hits while striking out seven over seven frames. Note that Wainwright has been downright filthy away from friendly confines this year, he's 9-3 in 13 starts with a minuscule 1.32 ERA. The home side counters with Jarred Cosart (0-1, 6.75 ERA) who was scratched from his last start due to some discomfort, he comes into this game having had 11 whole days off. Note that Cosart looked brutal in his debut for his new team, get shelled for four runs off four hits over 5 1/3's innings in his team's 5-2 loss to Cincinnati; and note that Cosart has been struggling for a while now, he's 1-3 with a ballooned 7.76 ERA over his last five trips to the bump. I think we're getting great value on this situation, I have no problem laying the price on arguably the best hurler in the game; play on ST. LOUIS.
