Money Line: -151.00 Seattle (Home)
Result: Win
This is an 8* MID-CHALK CHOKE-OUT on the Seattle Mariners.
This was going to be a tough series for the Blue Jays no matter what, but after taking two of three from Detroit, including a 19-inning contest in the finale just before leaving for the West Coast, it's clear that Toronto is running on fumes right now. Suffice it to say, I think the home side takes full advantage and think we're getting fantastic line value in this one. The M's are now tied with Detroit for the AL's second wild card spot and turn to co-ace Hisashi Iwakuma (10-6, 2.86 ERA) who has gone 5-2 with a tiny 2.04 ERA over his last eight outings, going at least seven frames in seven straight starts, posting a minuscule 1.66 ERA over the last three. Note that Iwakuma is a "lights out" 2-1 with a 1.61 ERA in three career starts against Toronto. The visitors counter with RA Dickey (9-11, 3.99 ERA) who is a sub-par 3-8 with a 3.79 ERA over 12 road starts this year. Dickey has been hit or miss the last two seasons, he's certainly over-matched here and with a tired line-up behind him, I think all signs clearly point to another victory for SEATTLE.
