(MLB) Philadelphia vs. San Diego,
Money Line: -157.00 San Diego (Home)
Result: Win
This is a 6* MID-CHALK CHOKE-OUT on the San Diego Padres.

Philadelphia has won five straight in this series, but I think that string ends tonight as Andrew Cashner and the home side find a way to get the job done. This is simply a bad spot for the Phillies, they have to travel across the country for an extremely late West Coast game after closer Jonathan Papelbon gave up four runs in the ninth to the Fish last night in his team's 5-4 loss. San Diego comes in having dropped nine of 11, including its most recent home games Sept. 3-4, which is significant as the Padres had won 21 of 27 at Petco Park before those setbacks. A date vs. the beleagured Jerome Williams is just what the doctor ordered to stop the slide, the right-hander has been shelled for nine runs over 10 innings spanning his last two starts. Most recently Williams (3-1, 3.44 ERA) gave up four runs over five innings in a 6-3 loss to Pittsburgh on Wednesday. San Diego counters with Cashner (3-7, 2.40 ERA) who gave up two runs over seven frames in a 6-3 road win vs. the Dodgers on Tuesday; note that Cashner is 1-1 with a very respectable 2.25 ERA over his last five starts overall. And while past success guarantees nothing in the future, it's still significant to note that the last time Cashner faced the Phillies on Sept. 10th, 2013, he would give up two runs off four scattered hits with one walk over 7 2/3's innings while striking out seven in an 8-2 road victory. I like Cashner to outduel his counterpart and have no problem laying this mid-sized price; play on SAN DIEGO.
