This is an 8* O/U SCORPION on the UNDER between Tulsa and Central Florida.
While both of these teams have played to some pretty high-scoring affairs this year, for a number of different reasons I believe the conditions are right for a lower-scoring battle and ultimately expect this total to fall below the posted number once the final whistle sounds. Tulsa is coming off a rare win, albeit over lowly SMU and will look to keep the momentum rolling today against a UCF team that had a five-game winning streak snapped at UConn two weeks ago. The Knights are still in line for a bowl berth, so motivation is high for both teams. The Hurricane looked pretty good defensively last week, it was the first game all year long that they held any team under 30 points, SMU actually had to score two TDs in the fourth to even get close in the 38-28 result. I'm not trying to convince you that Tulsa is suddently a good defensive team, obviously it's struggled all year, but there's no question that it also definitely has something to build off. The Knights have had two weeks off to get the foul taste out of their collective mouths after the letdown vs. UConn. The good news for the Knights is that they still have a chance to reign supreme in the AAC once again if they win out and get a little help. Note, before the dud vs. Connecticut, UCF had won five in a row SU. UCF will look to control the game on both sides of the ball today, expect to see a lot of running and crossing routes on offense to limit any turnovers and mistakes, and obviously the defense is clearly one of the team's main strengths, it ranks in the top-10 in the nation at allowing just 4.4 yards per play. The Knights face a horrible defense this week, and will see an even weaker unit next week in SMU, but note that UCF ranks in the middle of the pack offensively, another key part to our selection today (the Knighs are in fact eighth in the country defensively and have held their last five opponents to 17 points or less). Note that Tulsa has seen the total go UNDER the number in six of its last ten off a win vs. a conference rival, while UCF has seen it dip below the number in six of its last eight following a bye-week. In my opinion, the situation, the numbers and the trends do indeed point to the UNDER as the sharp move in this one.
