MLB *LATE NIGHT RUN-LINE RIPPER*
(MLB) Washington vs. San Diego,
Point Spread: -1.50 | -129.00 Washington (Away)
Result: Loss
Play: Washington Nationals -1.5
Rating: 8*

The Washington Nationals are on fire, and I think they'll pick up a big win Saturday night behind their ace Max Scherzer.

Scherzer (8-4, 3.40 ERA) has won each of his last three starts while surrendering just three runs on 12 hits in 23 innings. He's just 2-2 when starting against the Padres despite an ERA of 2.75 and a WHIP of 1.17. He has the current Padres limited to a .126 batting average over 11 at bats. Matt Kemp is just 1-for-24 in previous meetings with Scherzer.

The Friars turn to Colin Rea (3-3, 5.37 ERA). He lasted just 2 2/3 innings his last start when he was lit up for eight runs (six earned) on nine hits. The Padres have lost four of his last five starts.

The Nats have covered the run-line in seven of their past nine wins. Look for a blowout win for the Nationals.
