Result: Win
Play: Baltimore Orioles
Rating: 10*
The Baltimore Orioles fought off the Toronto Blue Jays 4-2 yesterday to stay top of the AL East. I like the Birds to build on that success and take down Sunday's rubber match of this three-game series.
Chris Tillman (9-1, 2.87) will take the ball for Baltimore. The Orioles have won all but two of his 14 starts on the season and the 28 year old has allowed just one run through 14 1/3 innings in his last two starts, despite facing two dangerous teams in the Royals and the Red Sox. He's 6-0 with a 2.39 ERA home at Camden Yards and I like his chances to book a win against the Jays here. His career numbers against Toronto are not that impressive, but he held the Jays to a pair of runs on four hits in six innings earlier this season.
Marcus Stroman (6-2, 4.76 ERA) will take the mound for the Jays. He's coming off seven strong innings against Philadelphia, but anyone can turn in a good performance against the lowly Phillies right now. He had been ripped for 17 runs in 16 1/3 innings in his previous three starts. Stroman has a 1.33 WHIP on the year and Baltimore is 6-0 in its last six games vs. a starter with a WHIP greater than 1.30. They've reached him for seven runs in 12 1/3 innings already this year.
The Orioles will have to do without Manny Machado on Sunday as he will begin a four-game suspension, but the Jays are without Jose Bautista though as he's been placed on the DL.
