MLB *LATE SHOW*
(MLB) Pittsburgh vs. Seattle,
Money Line: -122.00 Seattle (Home)
Result: Loss
Play: Seattle Mariners
Rating: 8*

I like the Seattle Mariners to put a beating on the Pittsburgh Pirates and their rookie right-hander Jameson Taillon tonight.

Taillon (1-1, 4.50 ERA) tossed eight scoreless innings against the Mets in his second start in the majors, but he's been tagged with four runs on eight in four innings in each of his last two starts. We can note that the Mariners are 7-0 in their last seven interleague games vs. a right-handed starter.

Wade Miley (6-3, 5.28 ERA) takes the ball for the Mariners. He'll make his first start since June 12 as he's been on the DL with shoulder soreness and I think he'll come out sharp. Miley has the current Pirates limited to a .242 batting average and Andrew McCutchen is just 2-for-12 against the southpaw. Pirates are 1-4 in their last five road games vs. a left-handed starter and 1-10 in their last 11 road games overall.

Seattle's Nelson Cruz has recorded four homers, one double and seven RBIs over his last five games. Seattle should have an advantage both on the mound and at the plate in this game, and this looks like a fair price on the home team.
