Early MLB 3-Pack
(MLB) LA Angels vs. Boston,
Money Line: 104.00 LA Angels (Away)
Result: Loss
Money Line: 104.00 LA Angels (Away)
Result: Loss
Play: Los Angeles Angels
Rating: 8*
The Los Angeles Angels had lost four straight and 10 of their past 11 prior to a 21-2 blowout win against the Boston Red Sox last night. I like the Halos to ride that momentum to a victory in the rubber match of this three-game series Sunday afternoon.
Matt Shoemaker (3-8, 4.12 ERA) takes the ball for Los Angeles, and the 29 year old has really improved since a tough start to the year. He's coming off a dominant month of June and has allowed just five runs (four earned) on 22 hits through 27 1/3 innings in his last four turns combined. Shoemaker gave up only one hit while fanning 13 hitter in 10 2/3 scoreless innings through two meetings with Boston back in 2014.
The Red Sox have won just two of their past seven to drop 4 1/2 games behind Baltimore in the AL East. They'll give a spot start to Sean O'Sullivan today as he makes his fourth appearance for the season. The 29 year old has surrendered 10 runs (nine earned) on 17 hits in 10 1/3 innings in two starts home at Fenway so far this year, and the way the Angels swung their bats last night he might be in some serious trouble.
Success at Fenway Park is nothing new for the Angels who are 12-5 in the last 17 meetings in Boston. Angels are 8-1 in their last nine games with Mark Wegner behind home plate.
