Late MLB *MIDNIGHT MASSACRE*
(MLB) San Diego vs. Arizona,
Money Line: -150.00 Arizona (Home)
Result: Loss
Play: Arizona Diamondbacks
Rating: 8*

The San Diego Padres enter 4th of July one game back of the Arizona Diamondbacks at the bottom of the NL West. My money is on the D'Backs to widen the gap with a win in the opener of a three-game series tonight.

Archie Bradley (3-3, 4.50) takes the ball for Arizona. He's coming off three consecutive quality starts while boasting a 1-0 record and a 2.12 ERA during that span. The 23 year old is 1-2 with a 5.47 ERA in four starts home at Chase Field, but he's fanned 27 batters through 24 2/3 innings of work so these numbers should improve over time. Why not starting here against the Padres, one of the worst road teams in baseball.

The Padres turn to Luis Perdomo (2-3, 8.49 ERA) who will make a spot start due to injuries. The rookie has given up 27 earned runs in his last 29 innings, covering four starts and two relief appearances.

Arizona has been the weakest home team in the major leagues this season, but it took two of three off the Padres in a series here at Chase Field May 27-29. Bradley held the Padres to three runs on four hits while striking out nine in 7 1/3 innings of a victory in the rubber match and was rewarded with the W. I like Bradley and the rest of the D'Backs to boost their home record at the expense of the Padres once again tonight.
