Play: Minnesota Twins
Rating: 8*
The Minnesota Twins are going for a sweep at Progressive Field Thursday afternoon after three straight wins against the Tribe. I like their chances with Hector Santiago (10-4, 4.25 ERA) on the mound. The left-hander came over at the trade deadline in a four-player deal with the Los Angeles Angels and is red hot in winning six straight starts behind a 1.78 ERA. Santiago faced the Tribe in LA on June 10 and gave up six runs and seven hits in 1 1/3 innings, but he's 5-2 with a 3.06 ERA in 11 road starts on the season.
Cleveland turns to 25 year old rookie Mike Clevinger (0-1, 7.71) who will make his fifth appearance in the big leagues. He made three starts in May and allowed a total of 14 runs in 14 1/3 innings in that role. The Twins have scored a total of 35 runs through the first three games of this series, and I think they'll get to the youngster early.
Cleveland is on the decline with losses in seven of its last 11 games. This looks like a great price on the hot Twins.
