The Minnesota Twins and the Chicago White Sox will open a four-game set at Target Field Thursday night. The White Sox were swept in a three-game series against the Tigers at Comerica Park that concluded yesterday while the Twins are looking to avoid a 14th consecutive defeat. The White Sox are 9-3 in the last 12 meetings (5-2 L7 at Target Field) and this looks like a good spot to back the visitors with Jose Quintana on the mound.

Quintana (11-9, 2.77 ERA) is going for a ninth consecutive quality start and he's 4-1 with a 1.81 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in eight starts since the All-Star break. He's 2-1 with a 2.36 ERA in four meetings with Minnesota on the season.

The Twins turn to Ervin Santana (6-10, 3.54) who was rocked for six runs, five hits and five walks in 6 2/3 innings during a no-decision against the Blue Jays his last time out. Santana is 1-2 with a 3.86 ERA in three starts against Chicago this season. Jose Abreu is 3-for-7 in previous meetings with Santana and his homer yesterday was his fifth blast in the last 11 games.
