MLB 3-Pack
(MLB) LA Angels vs. Oakland,
Money Line: -116.00 Oakland (Home)
Result: Loss
Play: Oakland A's
Rating: 8*

The Los Angeles Angels have finally started to play ball and they enter Monday's contest with the Oakland Athletics as winners of seven of their last eight games. The A's had lost five straight prior to a 1-0 win against the Red Sox on Sunday, and I like the A's to build on that momentum Monday afternoon.

Jered Weaver (10-11, 5.21 ERA) takes the bump for the Halos. He's won back-to-back starts with just a total of four runs (three earned) allowed in 12 innings of work. He's still allowed plenty of baserunners in those games though, just as he has all season long. It's just a matter of time before he gets lit up again, and the A's have reached him for four runs in each of the last two meetings.

The A's turn to Raul Alcantara, a 24 year old who is set to make his major league debut. He's compiled a 4-0 record and 1.18 ERA in eight starts at Triple-A Nashville this season, and the youngster has shown great command with 32 strikeouts while walking only three through 45 2/3 innings of work.

The Angels were forced to to use their relievers for 7 2/3 innings Sunday following a head injury to Matt Shoemaker who took a line drive off the head, so the A's could score some late runs off a taxed bullpen.
