Play: Washington Nationals
Rating: 10*
I absolutely love the Washington Nationals as a home dog to the Los Angeles Dodgers here in the opener of their NLDS.
The Nats have won each of Max Scherzer's (20-7, 2.96 ERA) last 10 starts, even though he was knocked around for five runs on nine hits in five innings of a 10-7 victory against the Fish his last time out. The Nats have the bats and the pitching to win the World Series IMO, while I'm not all that sold on this Dodgers team. They're obviously always dangerous with Clayton Kershaw (12-4, 1.69 ERA) on the hill, but he went on the disabled list June 30 and returned only on Sept. 9. He has made five starts since coming off the DL, but still not ideal to have his rhythm disturbed like that. Washington is a live dog here and I'm backing the better team at a terrific price.
