Play: St. Louis Blues
Rating: 10*
The St. Louis Blues opened the season with three consecutive victories, but they're coming off back-to-back at Vancouver and Edmonton. They've won six of the past seven meetings with the Calgary Flames, and I like them to get out of Alberta on a positive note. They'll come up against either former Blues netminder Brian Elliott, who is 0-3-0 with a bloated 4.72 GAA since joining the Flames, or Chad Johnson, a free agent signing from Buffalo. I thought Elliott would give Calgary's D a boost, but oh boy was I ever wrong. The Blues meanwhile can turn to Jake Allen who is 2-0-0 lifetime versus Calgary, and off to a strong start to the season with two goals allowed in each of his four outings.
Calgary is 1-3-1 on the season following Thursday's 4-2 home loss to Carolina. The Flames are 1-6 in their last seven vs. a team with a winning record and the Blues are 20-7 in their last 27 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of less than .400. I think we're getting a more than fair price on the visitors here, and I'm launching another BIG BET on the Blues.
