The Detroit Tigers defeated the Chicago White Sox 6-3 Tuesday afternoon, and I like them to claim today's contest as well with Jordan Zimmerman on the mound. The 30 year old is coming off a disappointing season (9-7, 4.87 ERA), but he posted a 2.63 ERA on the road (compared to a 7.00 ERA at Comerica Park). I also think he'll get plenty of support from a talented Tigers lineup that has a clear edge over the White Sox's dito.
Chicago will send James Shields to the mound and even though Zimmerman had a rough year, that's still nothing compared to what 35 year old Shields experienced. He finished the season with a 6-19 record and a 5.85 ERA, and he was 0-2 behind a 6.55 ERA in four starts against Detroit.
Tigers are 5-2 in the last seven meetings, and I think the price is right to back the visitors here.
