The Texas Rangers are coming off a 7-3 win at Toronto to move 10 games out of an American League wild-card spot with 42 games remaining. They sure have not given up on the season just yet, and I think the Minnesota Twins will have to score plenty of runs to win this one.

Twins rookie left-hander Devin Smeltzer (1-2, 3.66 ERA) has only four starts under his belt and was ripped for six runs in 4 1/3 innings against Cleveland last time out. As for Rangers' rookie right-hander Pedro Payano (1-1, 3.86 ERA), he will make his fourth career start Thursday. He's likely to struggle with a Twins team that averages 6.03 runs per game on the road.
