West Ham is coming off a decent preseason, defeating Ipswich, Wycombe and Brentford before losing to Bournemouth last time out.

Newcastle opened their preseason with a pair of wins over Crewe and Barnsley but has dropped its last two, to Middlesbrough and Stoke.

Still, I like Newcastle to give the Hammers all they can handle here in their Premier League season premiere.

While West Ham has had a quiet transfer window, Newcastle has been all the more active, most notably bringing in Callum Wilson, Jamal Lewis, and Ryan Fraser. Wilson has scored 22 EPL goals in his last two seasons with Bournemouth and he has seven career goals against West Ham.

Additionally, note that Newcastle went undefeated against the Hammer last season, earning a 3-2 here at the Olympic Stadium and a 2-2 draw in the reverse fixture at home.
