Twins right-hander John Gant (5-9, 3.78 ERA) is 1-3 with a 4.85 ERA in 11 outings since coming over from the Cardinals. Gant is coming off five scoreless innings at Cleveland, but he conceded four runs through 3 1/3 innings in the Bronx last month.
Yankees righty Luis Gil (1-0, 1.42 ERA) has impressed through his first four MLB starts. He has been issuing a fair amount of walks, but 24 Ks over 19 innings of work is impressive. The Yankees are desperate for wins after losing 12 of their last 15 games. They're still very in the playoff race though, and they've dominated Minnesota this season, winning five of six meetings.
