The 5-1-1 Calgary Stampeders travel Friday night to take on the 5-3 BC Lions at BC Place. Calgary opened the season with a 31-31 tie at Ottawa but then beat the RedBlacks the next week 43-39 at home. That win in Week 2 began a 5-1 stretch for the Stampeders with the team's lone loss coming 30-23 at Montreal. QB Bo Levi Mitchell is completing 65.5 percent of his passes for 2,081 yards with 13 TD passes and only three interceptions in 232 attempts. He leads the CFL's highest scoring offense, which averages 36.3 PPG. Calgary also allows just 20.7 PPG defensively, which also ranks first among all CFL teams (pretty sweet 'daily double!'). The BC Lions entered last week's game at Saskatchewan 5-2, having lost both games against Edmonton (7-0 pending Thursday's game), but were routed 41-8 by the Roughriders. Starting QB Jonathon Jennings replaced backup Travis Lulay but would throw four INTs. Lulay had replaced an injured Jennings (shoulder) back in Week 4 and promptly threw for 436 yards and 404 yards in back-to-back wins. However, Lulay's level of play has fallen off as of late and we can expect Jennings to get the start here, after throwing for 5,226 yards with 27 TDs (15 INTs) last season. BC averages 28.5 PPG and allows 27.8 PPG (5th) to rank fourth and fifth, respectively in this nine-team league
The pick: Bo Kevi Mitchell led Calgray to the Grey Cup Final last season (lost 39-33 in OT to Ottawa), when he threw for 5,392 yards with 32 TDs and just eight INTs. He and his team is starting resemble last year's club (we'll know more when the Stampeders finally face off against the Eskimos) but at the moment, I won't buck Calgary. The Stampeders have won eight of their last nine meetings against the Lions and may make it nine of 10 but I see both offenses having HUGE games and prefer the Over. Make it a 10* play
