GAME OF THE WEEK (Rogers' 10* MLB) >> HASN'T LOST IN MLB THIS WEEK!
(MLB) Milwaukee vs. Colorado,
Money Line: -160.00 Colorado (Home)
Result: Win
The set-up: The Milwaukee Brewers are just one game back of the first-place Chicago Cubs in the NL Central but when they visit the Colorado Rockies for a three-game series beginning Friday, it's also worth noting that they are within range of the Rockies and D'backs in the NL wild card race (Arizona and Colorado are both 4 1/2 game ahead of Milwaukee). The Brewers just finished a seven-game homestand with four straight victories on Wednesday and are optimistic as they embark on a nine-game road trip to Denver, San Francisco and Los Angeles. The Rockies and D'backs are tied at 67-54 (hold down two NL wild acrd spots) but the Rockies are looking to break out a 3-7 slump their last 10 games.

The pitching matchup: Matt Garza (6-6 & 4.38 ERA) will open this series for Milawukee, opposed by Colorado's German Marquez (9-5 & 4.13 ERA).Garza has hardly lived up to expectations after his breakthrough season of 2010 for Tampa Bay, with 2017 being fairly typical. The Brewers are 9-9 overall in his starts this season and while they are 7-4 in his home starts (Garza's ERA is 3.68), they are 2-5 in his road starts, where his ERA balloons to 5.45. Garza is 2-5 with a 6.10 ERA in seven career starts versus Colorado. Marquez is a 22-year-old rookie, who after going 4-0 with a 3.51 mark in five July starts (Rockies were 4-1), is 0-1 with a 4.41 ERA in three August starts (Rockies are 1-2). Marquez made three starts among his six appearances in 2016 (just 20 2/3 innings), earning a no-decision in one of them after allowing two runs and six hits in six innings of Colorado's 6-4 loss to Milwaukee in the final game of the regular season.

The pick: The Brewers went into the All-Star break with a 5 1/2-game lead in the NL Central but have gone only 13-18 since returning to play. The Cubs were red-hot out of the break and have since cooled, allowing Milwaukee to climb back with one game of Chicago. Yes, the Rockies have had their problems on the road before and after the break but they remain 37-23 at home, where they've averaged 6.20 RPG. The Brewers are just 4-11 on the road since the break, Garza has struggled on the road all season (5.45 ERA) plus he's 0-3 with an 8.82 ERA in three career starts at Coors Field. What's more, the Rockies are 7-2 in Marquez's home starts, after he's gone 5-0 with a 2.72 ERA in his past seven starts at Coors Field. Make Colorado a 10* play.
