This is an 8* MID-CHALK CHOKE-OUT on the Seattle Mariners.
Despite being a little shaky in his last two starts, I think that Seattle ace Felix Hernandez is severely undervalued in this spot, I have no problem laying this very reasonable mid-sized price. Hernandez (13-4, 2.07 ERA) went five innings of two-run ball in a 4-2 loss to Detroit on August 16th and then followed that up by giving up three runs while throwing a season high-tying 116 pitches over 5 2/3's innings in a 5-3 win over Boston last Friday, exiting without a decision. So after losing 12-4 to Texas on Wednesday, there's no question that the home side will be eager to return to form here and faces a Washington team which was blasted 8-4 by the Phillies on Wednesday. The Nationals have lost three-straight and turn to Jordan Zimmermann (9-5, 2.93 ERA) who comes in red hot, he's 3-0 with a 2.08 ERA in August. However, whenever you can get a pitcher of Hernandez's quality at this price at home, there's no question in my mind where the value lies. It may not be easy or pretty, but all signs point to the MARINERS as the sharp wager in this contest.
