There's a reason once highly touted Jacob Turner hasn't been a fixture in any team's rotation during his four years in the majors - he hasn't proven to be very good. He has a losing record this season with a 5.69 ERA and 1.59 WHIP.

Turner has pitched well in two starts since returning to Miami's rotation. But I'm far from sold. The Marlins are 7-16 in Turner's last 23 starts, including losing seven of his past nine home outings.

Turner is likely to be without the Marlins' starting catcher, too, as Jarrod Saltalamacchia is dealing with a sore back.

The Reds are going with right-hander Mike Leake. He's off a 3-0 victory against Arizona where he struck out eight while allowing five hits and no walks in going 7 2/3 innings this past Tuesday. Leake is 2-0 with a 2.13 ERA in two career starts versus the Marlins.

The Marlins have lost seven of their past eight to the Reds. Cincinnati has won six of its last seven road games against the Marlins. Part of the reason for this is the Reds' starting pitching staff is composed entirely of right-handers.

Miami is 38-47 against righties on the season. The Marlins have scored just five runs in the first three games of this series going against Johnny Cueto, Mat Latos and Homer Bailey.

The Reds have a good recent history, too, when playing on Sunday and in the final game of a four-game series going 7-2 in their last nine Sunday contests and 21-8 during game 4 of a series.

(Editor's note: Red-hot long-time pro Stephen Nover is 7-1 on his last eight plays after cashing another underdog winner with the Twins on Saturday. Stephen has his guaranteed Game of the Week going today along with this free selection.)
