Schule's MLB MERCHANT of DEATH - **EARLY START**
(MLB) Boston vs. Tampa Bay, 04/22/2015 3:10 PM, Score: 5 - 7
Money Line: -110.00 Boston (Away)
Result: Loss
This is a 10* play on the Boston Red Sox.

The Red Sox are sitting in first place in the AL East, mostly due to their offense. Last night's series opener in Tampa was a pitcher's duel though, and the Sox prevailed 1-0. I like Boston to win Game 2, as they appear to have a significant pitching mismatch in their favor.

Joe Kelly will toe the slab for the Sox, and he's off to a solid start to the season. Kelly (1-0, 2.13 ERA) allowed a pair of runs on four hits over 5 2/3 innings in a 3-2 win over Baltimore his last time out. Prior to that he tossed seven innings of one-run ball, surrendering a single hit in a win over the Yankees in New York.

The Rays hand the ball to Nathan Karns, who hasn't looked good at home so far. Karns (1-1, 4.58 ERA) allowed a pair of runs on two hits and four walks in a 5-4 loss to the Yankees his last time out. He's been taken yard three times in his two starts at Tampa, both of those losses for the home team.

The Red Sox have plenty of players in the lineup that can hurt Karns with the long ball, and if they don't get to him, there's always the Rays bullpen. Tampa ranks dead last in the majors in ERA by reliever.

Take BOS.
