The Sox are in Minnesota tonight, coming off a three game series in Baltimore that saw two of three games cancelled. If anything they should be fresh, and with their ace on the mound they are looking good in the series opener.
Chris Sale will toe the slab for the Sox, and he's looked as good as ever this season. Sale (2-0, 2.37 ERA) didn't have his best stuff in his last start, but still only allowed a pair of runs through seven innings in a no decision. Previously he allowed three runs on nine hits while striking out 14 over 12 innings winning his first two starts of the season.
The Twins will hand the ball to Trevor May, who will get the start despite suffering an elbow injury in his last start. May (1-1, 4.91 ERA) allowed a pair of runs on three hits before leaving in the fourth inning against the Mariners. Even on his best day he would have a tough time matching serves with Sale, but he might not be at 100% tonight.
The Twins lost in heartbreaking fashion yesterday, blowing a 7-3 lead against the Tigers. The bullpen has been a disaster all year for Minnesota, while it's been a strength for the Sox.
