This is a 10* play on the Texas Rangers.
The Rangers appeared to be well on their way to a victory in Game 1 of this home series versus Oakland, but the Bullpen surrendered seven runs in the eighth inning in a 7-5 loss. Texas is awful, but as a home dog in Game 2 with a red hot pitcher on the mound, I'll roll the dice.
Nick Martinez will toe the rubber for the Rangers, and he's off to an incredible start. Martinez (2-0, 0.35 ERA) tossed six scoreless innings in 5-4 win over the Angels in LA in his last start. The Rangers have won all four of his starts, and he's allowed just one earned run through 20 innings during that span. The 25 year old also had a stellar showing this spring, going 3-1 with a 3.05 ERA.
The A's hand the ball to Drew Pomeranz, who has been hit hard in three straight starts. Pomeranz (1-2, 4.50 ERA) allowed five runs on six hits over five innings in a home loss to Houston his last time out. Prior to that he surrendered five runs on eight hits in five innings in a loss at Angels Stadium.
While Texas lost yesterday's game, scoring five runs is a positive sign for a team that has struggled at the plate. I like the home team here in Texas tonight.
